UNDERGROUND TRAINING OFFICER(1 position)

The Queensland Mines Rescue Service provides emergency response services for all Queensland underground coal mines including
•   The liaison with member mines for a provision of a complete emergency response system to the underground coal mines
•   The provision of training for underground mines rescue team members
•   Maintenance and training in specialised underground mines rescue equipment
•   Development of and training in emergency response procedures and strategies for surface and underground coal mines
•   An Operational Jet Inertisation capability unique in Australia

The successful applicant will have mature interpersonal skills, be able to participate as an enthusiastic member of a small, motivated, operational and training team, have a flexible approach to diverse job requirements and most importantly be able to accept responsibility and be accountable

As QMRS expands its training offerings to both the underground and open cut coal industry an opportunity exists for motivated and experienced applicants to apply to join the QMRS team as a Training Officer.

Key Functions and Duties include:

•   Provide quality training services to mines rescue personnel
•   Provide mine emergency preparedness training to mine personnel
•   Participate in mine site emergency response exercisesas required
•   Respond to mine emergencies as part of the QMRS team
•   Participate in the development and maintenance of mines rescue training course materials and resources as required

Essential Competencies and Experience:
• Underground mines rescue experience
• Current training and assessment competencies
• Excellent presentation and communication skills

Desirable Competencies and Experience:

• Surface mines rescue experience
• Statutory mining qualifications

The role is a full time position currently employed on an even time roster arrangement.
