$10.5m bridge, park to open at Pelican Waters
A new bridge linking residents in Golden Beach to the Pelican Waters marina and shopping centre will be unveiled this weekend in a major community milestone.
Pelican Waters development general manager Hamish Pressland said the $10.5 million upgrade would be open to the public on Saturday.
It includes the launch of the new Spitfire Banks Dr and Michael St bridge and the first stage of Central Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 10am.
Mr Pressland said the bridge would open up the suburb's island precinct and marina to residents from the Golden Beach side of the suburb.
"We are very pleased to deliver these major development milestones for the Pelican Waters community to utilise and enjoy," Mr Pressland said.
"Years in the planning, the new bridge and park will greatly enhance the amenity of the suburb, give added connectivity for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists and provide active spaces for all age groups."
As well as providing another access point to the island and marina village, Mr Pressland said the bridge would serve as a gateway entry to the Pelican Waters canal system for boats and leisure crafts.
The parkour zone is just one part of the Central Park which also features a custom-design basketball and netball court.
