Fatal crash claimed life of 17-year-old Emu Park man

12.45pm: The passenger of the vehicle is currently in a stable condition at Rockhampton Hospital. 

 

 

11.15am: POLICE have confirmed the 17-year-old driver of this morning's fatality was an Emu Park resident.

Initial investigations indicate around 1.30am the car the man was driving along Bolsover Street failed to negotiate a roundabout, crashed into a curb before mounting the footpath and crashing into a concrete pillar.

The 16-year-old passenger, a Berserker resident, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle involved was stolen earlier in the evening from a Depot Hill address.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

 

9.20am: EMERGENCY Service crews were called to a fatal crash this morning in Rockhampton's CBD. 

According to authorities, the single vehicle crash occurred at 1.30am in Bolsover St. 

Police confirmed the 17-year-old driver, who sadly lost his life, was driving a stolen vehicle. 

The 16-year-old passenger was taken to Rockhampton Hospital with significant injuries in the early hours of this morning. 

Police said high speeds were a contributing factor to the crash.
