Man charged after fatal crash
AN ALLORA man has been charged with manslaughter in relation to the fatal crash on the New England Hwy last week in which Berat woman Christine McKay died.
The 59-year-old man has also been charged with six counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
His name has not been released.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the man was still in hospital in Brisbane and there had been a bedside hearing yesterday, but could not give exact details of his condition.
The man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court on November 1 with the location to be determined pending medical advice.
Emergency crews were called to the crash scene on the New England Hwy just north of Allora at about 2.40pm September 18 after a head-on collision between the silver Mazda MX5 the man was driving and Mrs McKay's car.
Mrs McKay, 59, died at the scene.
