LIAM McLean scored a goal in his man-of-the-match performance for Bluebirds United on Saturday night.

Darren Holmes and Jarrod Polkinghorne also found the net as Bluebirds ran out 3-2 winners over Parkana in Round 6 of the CQ Premier League.

Coach Andrew Poyser said his team worked hard and were deserving winners.

Despite creating a number of goal-scoring opportunities, Bluebirds went into the half-time break trailing 2-1.

Poyser made a few changes which saw the team come out in the second stanza and take control of the game.

"We just needed to tweak a couple of things; change our formation a little and tighten up in defence and we knew we'd be okay once we adjusted those two things," Poyser explained.

Bluebirds' next opponents are competition leaders Capricorn Coast, who thumped Berserker 9-1 at the weekend.

Poyser said they would present a tough challenge.

"We have to make sure we're tracking their runners through the midfield," he said.

"They have a strong midfield and dangerous front three, who can all score goals. We need to be switched on from the start and play for 90 minutes if we want the three points."
