Bridge projects granted $518,000 federal funding
VITAL bridge projects in the Rockhampton Region have cemented $518,000 in federal funding.
The funds, which were secured in round two of the Australian Government's Bridges Renewal Programme, will help modernise the Louisa Ck Bridge, Garnant and the Sandy Ck Bridge, South Yaamba.
Capricornia MP Michelle Landry, who yesterday announced funding for the Cherwell Ck bridge renewal in the Isaac area, said the funding support was vital to ensure communities and local businesses have easy access to essential services, traffic movement and the efficient transportation of road freight.
"The Bridges Renewal Programme is designed to bolster the productivity of Australia's local bridges, and give councils the support they need to better serve communities and drive greater efficiency in road freight and traffic movement," she said.
"This upgrade means local communities within the area of the Cherwell Bridge will gain safer and more reliable road access.
"This will not only reduce the time taken to transport freight from farms and local industry, but increase productivity and economic profits."
Project works are expected to be managed by local government.
