61-year-old cabbie robbed at knifepoint

A NIGHT on the job quickly turned into a nightmare for a Rockhampton cab driver on Sunday.

About 9pm, the 61-year-old man was robbed by a passenger as he dropped him off at a Hawkins St address in The Range.

Detective Sergeant Steve Paskin said the male offender used a weapon to threaten the driver.

It is believed the weapon was a knife.

He said the passenger had been picked up from the Wandal area.

A quantity of money was stolen during the robbery.

Det Sgt Paskin said the offender was described as slim build and possibly Aboriginal.

He was last seen wearing a baseball cap and a hi-vis work shirt.

Police are reviewing camera footage from the cab and continuing their investigations.
