GALLERY: Double last year's attendance at Beach Day Out
A "GREAT inclusive day" is how Jan Kelly described the Beach Day Out at Emu Park on Friday.
The Livingstone Shire councillor for communities said more than 3000 people turned out for the event at Bell Park, doubling last year's attendance.
The free family fun day, now in its fourth year, is held to celebrate Disability Action Week.
"It was absolutely marvellous. The weather was perfect, the crowds turned up and everyone enjoyed themselves," she said.
"We had hundreds of school students there. It was just what we wanted it to be."
The guest speaker was Karni Liddell, a former Paralympic swimmer who hails from Rockhampton.
Karni, who was born with spinal muscular atrophy, is the National Disability Insurance Scheme champion for Queensland.
