Durkin duo in action

ELI and his sister Lydia Durkin will line up for Emmaus College at the Confraternity and QISSN carnivals this week.

For Lydia, who is in Year 10, it will be the first of what she is hoping will be three QISSN carnivals.

Eli will be competing in his second - and last - Confraternity Carnival as he graduates at the end of the year.

"It's been a great experience here at Emmaus with the opportunity to compete against 48 different high schools throughout Queensland on home turf," he said.

"It's important that you make the most of your six years at secondary school; getting the opportunity such as this is a lifelong memory."

Eli and Lydia's uncle Neale Wyatt graduated from Emmaus College in 1998, having also played the Confraternity, and went on to play for the Brisbane Broncos in 2002.

The carnival allows students to get a taste of high-level rugby league and hopefully, like Neale, fulfil their dream of playing in the NRL.
