Elite netball coach to pass on tips to region's players
WORLD champion netball star and former Australian Diamonds assistant coach Nicole Cusack will offer her vast knowledge and experience to the region's top young netballers ahead of their final selection trial.
Cusack, who now runs Elite Netball Coaching, will be the guest coach at the Capricorn Talent Camp for 14-176-year-olds in Rockhampton on March 21-22.
Cusack enjoyed a 10-year career with the Australian team, which included a Commonwealth Games gold medal and world championship wins.
After retiring, the New South Wales Sports Hall of Famer went on to work as an assistant coach at NSW Swifts in the ANZ Championships, an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship coach before spending the past five years as a Queensland Firebirds specialist coach.
Cusack was the Australian under-21 world champion assistant coach in 2010 and Australian Diamonds specialist coach from 2008-2012, and was an integral part in the team's world championship win in 2011.
It's the experience gained off the court that local coaches will have the opportunity to tap into when Cusack hosts a coach development camp during the weekend of March 21-22.
The camp will be held at Rockhampton's CQ Community Sports Centre (at CQUniversity) all day Saturday and on Sunday morning.
The camp will focus on a range of areas including footwork, passing and specialty coaching for shooters, centre court and defensive players.
Match play will be held on Sunday before the Capricorn regional development squad is announced.
