Yeppoon to host Australia's leading short film festival
From Capricorn Coast Mirror.
AFTER four months delighting audiences across the nation with a smorgasbord of local and international short film gems, Flickerfest is coming to Yeppoon.
Celebrating 23 years of short film excellence, Flickerfest remains Australia's leading short film festival.
On May 16-17, the Spectacular Short Films With Soul will feature at Mercure Capricorn Resort with shorts from Australia and around the world, poolside under the stars.
Mercure Capricorn Resort director of sales and marketing Raelene Ohlson said the resort was excited to host such a popular event on the Capricorn Coast.
"The quality of short films will certainly be a treat, with something there to suit people of all interests," Ms Ohlson said.
"There will be 120 shorts featured over two days and a program schedule set-up to ensure no one misses out."
The festival had more than 2300 entries for Flickerfest 2014 and only the top 120 shorts have been selected in the official competition, all hand-picked to represent the most innovative, creative and cutting-edge short films.
Flickerfest will screen an award-winning range of shorts, many of which are world or Australian premieres, giving local audiences their first look at some of the hottest short films in the world.
Several of the films have screened at the world's most prominent and revered film festivals, including Sundance and Cannes.
