Fire crews continue to monitor Norman Gardens fire

UPDATE 9AM SUNDAY: Fire crews have extinguished a bushfire in the Glenlee area which began burning yesterday. 

They are continuing to monitor a fire in Norman Gardens which started on Friday.

It is still within containment lines. 


UPDATE 2.30PM SATURDAY: QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services crews are currently on scene at two separate bushfire in the Rockhampton region. 

Seven QFES crews are at the scene of a bushfire near the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd which began at Sunset Drive in Norman Gardens yesterday.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) fire crews are assisting with the blaze, which is burning within containment lines.

Crews are currently working to strengthen those lines. 

Around 2pm an additional five QFES crews were called to a bushfire on Yaamba Rd and Angela Rd at Glenlee.

There is no immediate threat. 

FRIDAY: Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are currently on scene at a grass fire burning near Sunset Drive, Norman Gardens in Rockhampton.

Firefighters are working to control the blaze which broke out just after 1pm today.

Residents in the area will be affected by a smoke haze throughout the afternoon.

Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000).
