GLADSTONE has compiled a list of 50 reasons why it is better than Rockhampton.
The Bulletin staff and readers have compiled a list of 30 reasons so far why Rockhampton is better than Gladstone.
- Our road infrastructure makes sense; for every destination there's more than one way to get there.
- Our shopping options are tenfold better than Gladstone's. We have Stocklands, the biggest shopping centre north of the Sunshine Coast.
- We're a stone's throw from dozens of fantastic beaches
- Our city is framed by beautiful bushland and farm land, not ugly industrial sites
- We're on the Bruce Highway, so we're a haven for travelers.
- Our dining options our much more varied than Gladstone's, and we have unique options such as Cafe Bliss, Blue Truffle and the Regent.
- Rockhampton Food Rater has more members than Gladstone Food Rater
- We don't use American terminology like, "prom" for formal or "mall" for shopping centre
- You don't need to take out a home loan to take a flight out of Rocky
- Our night life is much better and provides more option
- Mount Archer lookout provides fantastic views
- Mount Archer has some fantastic bush walking tracks
- The Walter Reid Culture Centre offers a wide range of art, craft and culture experiences from plays to music nights, art sessions, photography club, pottery, etc
- We have an art shop and it has a professional framer in the shop
- There's a much better ratio of men to women in Rocky.
- Rent and house prices don't go through the roof every time a new industrial site is built

2. We don't have an equivalent to the Fitzroy River. Instead, the delightful Auckland Creek is a perfect spot for a Sunday session (and it doesn't flood).
