Hard-hitting action at Road to Glory event in Yeppoon

MUAY THAI: Clayton Cullen will step into the ring for the main fight of the night at the Bare Knuckles Fight Club's Road to Glory event in Yeppoon on Saturday night.

The program will showcase some of Central Queensland's talent in muay thai and boxing, with 12 fights on the program starting at Yeppoon's Swan Park at 6pm.

Bare Knuckle Fight Club's Ben Hawkes said spectators would be treated to some quality fights, with competitors coming from across the region and further afield.

He is confident that Cullen, who will take on Bundaberg's Ben Young in a middle heavyweight muay thai fight, will put in a strong showing.

"He's been training really hard. It's going to be a tough fight for him but hopefully he can get the win.

"He's really heavy handed so hopefully he can use that to get on top of his opponent.”

Fellow Bare Knuckles fighter Matt Shaw will fight full muay thai and will be keen to show off his well-developed kicking and countering skills.

Rockhampton's Dave Woods will return to the ring after a three-year absence but will come up against a Gladstone fighter who's enjoying a winning streak.

Hawkes said the boxing bouts would feature fighters from Townsville as well as the Rockhampton PCYC.

"This is our second Road to Glory event. Last time we got about 350 people, this time we're hoping to a crowd of around 500,” he said.

Tickets are $25 general admission, $35 ringside seating, with VIP seating also available.
