Kathmandu treks into Rockhampton with plenty to hike about

IF YOU are planning a trek around the world or just around our great region, now you don't have to trek far to get the right gear.

Kathmandu, specialising in outdoor clothing and equipment, opened its doors in Stockland Rockhampton on Tuesday

Brisbane-based store manager Aaron Coochiross, who was in the Rockhampton store for opening week, said the response had been wonderful.

"We've had a lot of people saying they have been waiting for this," Aaron said.

Aaron said the store, specialising in niche hiking, camping and travel gear, sold products not available elsewhere. They are mostly designed in-house.

Whether you are searching for quality lightweight quick-dry clothing for a hot climate or a down jacket for extreme cold, Aaron said the Kathmandu range offered technical products, that include things like sun protection, and practical and highly breathable items that repel flies.

After Kathmandu received a good response when it opened stores in other regional Queensland areas Aaron believes Rockhampton, with its caves, mountains and bushwalks, would be no different.

Check out the new store and its Winter sale, with up to 60% off.
