5.30PM: The Banana Shire Local Disaster Management Group are closely monitoring the peak water flows in the Jambin area, and the potential rainfall in the lower catchments of the Dawson River.
The flood situation is easing throughout the Shire and there is no further major rain expected in the immediate future.
Information on road closures can be obtained by checking Council's website www.banana.qld.gov.au and emergency after hours numbers are available by ringing (07) 4992 9500.
2.30PM: A NUMBER of rivers across the region are on flood alert, following heavy rainfall last week.
Rainfall totals recorded since 9am have generally been less than 10mm, but further showers are forecast for the Rockhampton area today.
Moderate to major flooding is occurring in the Don and lower Dawson Rivers, and in the lower Isaac Rivers.
DON and DEE RIVERS:
Moderate flood levels remain high during Sunday afternoon and near a peak at Goovigen on Callide Creek. Moderate flood levels also continue to remain high downstream on the Don River at Rannes where further small renewed rises are occurring.
Stream rises are being recorded across the upper Dawson River catchment, where river rises and minor flooding is expected at Taroom overnight Sunday. Small river rises and some minor flooding is expected downstream from Taroom.
Major flooding is easing further downstream at Baralaba Weir, whilst major flooding continues to slowly rise at Beckers. Moderate flood levels are rising downstream at Newlands.
CONNORS and ISAAC RIVERS:
Minor flood levels continue to ease on the Connors River at Pink Lagoon. Moderate flooding continues to slowly rise downstream on the Isaac River at Yatton.
LOWER MACKENZIE and FITZROY RIVERS:
Small river rises are being recorded in the lower reaches of the Mackenzie River. River levels are also rising along the Fitzroy River through to Rockhampton, however levels are expected to remain below minor during the next few days.
The next warning will be issued by 10am Monday.
