Leaf takes out indoor bowls

INDOOR bowls were played at the Gayndah RSL Hall on Thursday evening, and the Times has the results for our dedicated readers.

Taking out first place was Greg Leaf with three wins and a total of 45 points, ahead of second-placed Mike Davey who managed two wins and 39 points.

Vice President of Gayndah's RSL Services Indoor Bowls, Beryl Palmer, said the night was a low scoring affair, with some good bowls being played.

"It was quite a good night, very low scores, and everybody seemed to be playing quite well,” she said.

"When the scores are low it means you've had a good game, mostly.”

Mrs Palmer said although eight people turned out, numbers had been a bit down since the cold weather began.

"There was only eight of us there, so it wasn't a big night even though it was a competition night,” she said.

"We'd normally get 12 to 16 players, but since it's been a bit colder they're not coming.”

Other scores were: Gary Taylor 36; Beryl Palmer 35; Jijila Turner 25; Boyd Baker 24; Phillip Grambower 19; Linda Baker 17.
