Reader disappointed about opening hours at new pool

IT WAS most disappointing to learn that the June opening hours for the beautiful, new, 50m heated pool on the Southside are even less than they were for May.

The pool is closed from 8.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday, so when can parents of school age children ever get to swim a few quiet, peaceful laps between shifts?

It seems such a waste of money that a wonderful facility that helps to keep kilos off me is not opened when it is most convenient for me to go and no doubt other shift workers or people who like swimming laps during the day or when their children are at school.

I thought the pool was heated (at enormous expense) so that people who need to, could swim in winter. Any wonder obesity and depression are on the rise!

If the limited opening hours are due to a lack of money to pay employees, surely someone could open it at least one day during the working week?

Or is the closure due to 'winter'?
