Major projects to procede in new Livingstone council: Ludwig
MAYORAL candidate Bill Ludwig said suggestions that no major projects would be undertaken by the new Livingstone council in the first 12 months were ill-informed.
"With development opportunities and investment confidence on the rise, this is not a time for the new Livingstone Council to put our progress on hold," Mr Ludwig said.
"Prudent financial management certainly will be vital in the first two years of the new council but major infrastructure and community projects, especially on the Capricorn Coast and rural road networks, must still proceed.
"My focus will also certainly be on ensuring rates remain affordable and residents and ratepayers across the entire Livingstone area have effective and efficient service delivery.
"The key to the scale and number of major projects able to be undertaken will be determined by both working smarter and successfully negotiating with state and federal governments for funding.
"In my previous terms as mayor, Livingstone secured over $100 million in funding for major infrastructure and community projects.
"We need to hit the ground running from day one to get that level of funding flowing back in Livingstone once again."
