Man to face court after Yaamba Rd car crash
ONE man has been arrested and charged with several offences after being involved in a horrific crash on Yaamba Road on Wednesday morning.
Forensic Crash boss Sergeant Ray Pimm said yesterday that police interviewed the 18-year-old driver of the blue Toyota after he was released from hospital on Thursday, and charged him with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on December 12.
The 48-year-old woman driving the Rav4 is still in hospital receiving treatment for her injuries.
The three-vehicle crash on the corner of Yaamba and Richardson roads resulted in three people taken to Rockhampton Hospital.
Rockhampton Forensic Crash investigators believe speed was a likely factor in Wednesday's incident.
Sgt Pimm said a Nissan 4WD and a Toyota Rav4 were travelling south on Yaamba Rd.
The vehicles stopped at the Yaamba-Richardson roads intersection to turn right into Richardson Rd, towards Lawrence's Holden dealership in Kawana.
The Nissan and the Toyota were making their way into Richardson Rd when the blue Toyota Aurion, rear-ended the Rav4.
