Zooming into a US interview from an Aussie pub, Matt Damon commented on rumours his friend Ben Affleck had rekindled his romance with Jennifer Lopez.

The 50-year-old American actor, who has been based in Australia of late, appeared on the US Today show last night where he was enjoying a beer at a local pub.

The hosts wasted no time asking him what he knew about his Good Will Hunting co-star Affleck reconciling with Lopez, after the pair dated for two years in 2002.

"There's not enough liquor in the world for you to get me to say something about that," the Jason Bourne star laughed.

Damon was then quizzed on how he heard about the rumours that have dominated headlines over the past few days.

"I just heard you guys (talking about it) waiting to come on TV … it's the first time I've heard about it. It's a fascinating story," he said jokingly. "I love them both, I hope it's true, that would be awesome."

It comes as Affleck and Lopez, who broke off their engagement in 2004, have been spotted together several times over the last month, following J Lo's high-profile split from baseball legend Alex Rodriguez.

Affleck has been seen at Lopez's home in California multiple times. And last week, E! Online reported on their private getaway.

After appearing (separately) at the VAX LIVE concert in Los Angeles on Saturday, it was reported Lopez and Affleck "jetted off together" to the luxurious Yellowstone Club in Montana.

Lopez's ex-fiance Rodriguez is said to be "shocked" by reports the pair have reignited their relationship.

Lopez, 51, and Rodriguez, 45, called off their two-year engagement last month.

"A-Rod is shocked that J.Lo has moved on," a source close to Lopez told E! News. "He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect. He has been reaching out to J.Lo trying to meet with her and she has been very short with him."

Meanwhile, Damon has been in Australia since January where he's filming the latest Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, alongside Chris Hemsworth.

He's been sighted at various locations along the east coast, and most recently attended a charity event for domestic violence charity Safe Haven in Brisbane, where he reportedly donated $10,000.

On Saturday he was seen shopping in the city's shopping mecca, James Street.

During his interview on the Today show, Damon gave a shout out to the staff at the local pub he was at.

"I'm in Australia, I'm having a beer. The people at the local club were nice enough to leave it open just so that I could do this (interview)," he said.
