Mining industry leader to speak at CQ industry conference

AN INDUSTRY leader will share his knowledge with Central Highlands business and industry operators at an annual business conference.

Chief Executive Officer David Boshoff will be a guest speaker at Central Highlands Development Corporation’s fifth annual Industry and Innovation Forum later this month.

Mr Boshoff recently took over from Lucas Dow, who is now Adani Australia’s Board Director.

“Adani has long had strong ties to the Central Highlands because of our proximity to the company’s Carmichael Coal Project,” CHDC CEO Arjan Bloemer says.

“Emerald is one of Adani’s official Project Sourcing Centres for Carmichael and this puts the town front and centre of subcontracting and supply chain opportunities.

“It’s therefore fantastic that the new CEO is able to come here to keep those lines of communication open and give local operators a first-hand update on the development.”

Other guest speakers are Andrew Barger, Infrastructure and Economics Policy Director at Queensland Resources Council; Dr Sarah Pearson, Innovation Deputy Director General at the Department of State Development, Tourism and Innovation; and Peter Donaghy, Hub Director of Coal in Coal Assessments at the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy.

It will also be a chance to meet Mr Bloemer, who recently stepped in as CEO of CHDC following the retirement of Sandra Hobbs.

The forum brings together businesses of all sizes to uncover, explore and collaborate on emerging economic opportunities in the Central Highlands.

“This is a great way for operators to hear directly from leading stakeholders about the major development and investment that’s happening in Central Queensland and the opportunities they might present for local businesses,” Mr Bloemer said.

“With limited seating available, I strongly encourage people to book now to secure their place.”

The event will be held in Emerald on Wednesday, August 26. Tickets are $65 per person and can be purchased at chdc.com.au.
