Caller falsely claims attack by ‘machete-wielding’ men
MULTIPLE Rockhampton police crews responded to a hoax report of machete-wielding men yesterday morning.
Rockhampton police were called to a Saunders St address in Koongal following reports two men, armed with machetes, had been seen running into a residence.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said multiple crews responded to the report just after 10am following a 000 call from a phone box in Thozet Rd.
"It turned out to be a domestic violence incident. No machetes were involved and no one was injured but the caller said there was to get a larger police response," the spokesperson said.
In an unrelated incident, the spokesperson said police responded to reports of a domestic violence order breach, relating to an alleged glassing incident, at Northside Plaza just before 8am.
The spokesperson said a 16-year-old boy was charged with the assault of a 16-year-old girl following the altercation in the toilets of the Musgrave St shopping complex.
Initial reports indicated the teenage girl had been injured after she was struck by a glass bottle in the female toilets.
The QPS spokesperson said no complaints were made by the victim, and she told police she was not injured.
"She was not treated by Queensland Ambulance crews," the spokesperson said.
