Nerimbera toast Gabriel’s winner of 2-1 against Central

YOU CAN always count on Roberio Gabriel to get the job done.

The Nerimbera fullback stole the show on Saturday night to lead his team to a 2-1 victory against Central in round 11 of the Central Queensland Football competition.

Nerimbera was promoted to fourth place on the ladder after Bluebirds and Capricorn Coast drew 2-all while Clinton drew 3-all with Emerald Eagles and Frenchville taking back the top spot from Southside United.

Finn McKenzie made sure Nerimbera started on the front foot when he netted a goal early in the first half before Central's Andrew Maynard hit back with a goal shortly after.

With the scores locked 1-all at half time there was plenty of pressure on both teams to edge ahead but it was Gabriel that got the job done.

Frenchville stormed to a 19-10 victory over Dawson Valley

In a phenomenal effort, Gabriel took possession of the ball in the backline and made a quick break up the wing to claim Nerimbera's second goal of the night 15 minutes into the second half.

The goal, combined with a strong defensive effort, provided Nerimbera just what they needed to clinch the win.

The only casualty was Nerimbera's Israel Souza who took a bad knock to his ankle.
