New redevelopment at Rockhampton Airport unveiled to public
TRAVELLERS will be most impressed with new facilities at the Rockhampton Airport when they are next in transit.
Works on the $1.16 million redevelopment project reached completion yesterday and saw the new Relay News and Gifts store commence trading today.
The new store offers an expanded range of newspapers, magazines, books, coffee, snacks, souvenirs, gifts and technology accessories.
Rockhampton Regional Council's Business Enterprise Committee chair councillor Neil Fisher said it was important for the airport to have upgraded their facilities for travellers.
"Our airport is constantly growing and is one of the most important Regional airports in Queensland," Cr Fisher said.
"The redevelopment project will today see the operation of a larger Relay News and Gifts store.
"I am certain the new store will prove very popular with travellers and their guests," he said.
Cr Fisher said the new store has been relocated to a more suitable area of the terminal; a common seating area with a new look and feel.
"I am very excited about this move and with a store twice its old size I am certain airport users will enjoy transitting through the Rockhampton Airport even more," Cr Fisher said.
"The Rockhampton Airport hopes to continue bettering the experience of travel and transit and will continue to strive towards being a well recognised airport, nationally," he said.
