Resort abuzz with wedding chatter for Rocky artist Tom Busby

NOT everyone can hold a concert to celebrate their wedding, but Tom Busby has contacts.

Jeremy Marou, Enzo Russo and Dave Dow performed at the Mercure Capricorn Resort over the weekend to celebrate Tom's marriage to sweetheart Huma Panjwani on Thursday.

More than 1000 people enjoyed relaxed music by the pool during the three-day celebration for the Busby Marou star.

That was a pretty big shin dig by CQ standards but as other regional couples organise their weddings they might be looking at a cost of around $29,500.

That's the average cost of tying the knot, according to a study by Australian wedding planning website Hitched.com.au.

The survey found the average wedding spend increased from about $23,000 in 2012.

Price of love

  • Newlyweds said they spent about $22,000 on the big day and more than $7000 on their honeymoon.
  • 60% the couples surveyed also admitted they struggled to stay under budget.
  • 39% kept indulgences within 10% of original budget
  • 21% overspent by more than 10% of their budget
