READERS DISCUSS: Former treasurer Joe Hockey’s resignation

FEDERAL treasurer Joe Hockey last night issued a statement announcing his intention to resign as the member for North Sydney and as a minister in the federal government.

The announcement comes as Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull ousted the Abbott faithful from his front bench in a reshuffle.

Here's what our online readers had to say about the issue.

Bishop: Hockey is no great loss, terrifying that a man as nasty as Morrison is rewarded!

Marls: Shame! Shame! Shame! Turnbull - there is NO Disabled Front Bench Minister for the less fortunate (just mixed up with Social Services - what an insult!) and very few from Queensland in Cabinet! And why is the astute Mal Brough not on Front Bench?

Midge: Good riddance to them all! Thank you Malcolm. None of them will be missed (by me anyway).

Adam Titmarsh: Just in case you don't know. The government loans the money off the fed. Australia keeps getting in to more debt because people Expect instead of Respect.
