UPDATE: Man airlifted to Brisbane after Yeppoon Rd crash
3.30PM: A 24-year-old male is being transported to Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital following a horror head-on accident near Yeppoon this morning.
The patient remains in a critical condition with severe head, chest, pelvic and leg injuries.
The crash was reported about 6am on the intersection of McKays Rd and Yeppoon Rd and Bondoola.
12PM: Yeppoon Road has reopened following this morning's horrific head on crash which has left one man in critical condition and another with serious leg injuries.
A 24-year-old male remains in a critical condition with severe head, chest, pelvic and leg injuries.

10:30AM: The RACQ Capricorn Rescue have provided images from the this morning's horror chash scene on Yeppoon Road.
The pictures show one hatchback with severe damage and a four-wheel-drive ute which has sustained front end damage.
CQHHS has also confirmed the 24-year old male who was air lifted remains in a critical condition.
9.15AM: A 24-year-old male is in critical condition in Rockhampton Hospital after being "heavily entrapped" following a head on collision on Yeppoon road this morning.
Senior Operations Supervisor Brad Miers from Queensland Ambulance Service described the scene:
"We found two male patients from either vehicle and both those male patients had severe injuries," he said
"A 24-year-old male was found unconscious and heavily entrapped in the vehicle," he said.
The 24-year-old was airlifted from the scene with severe head, chest, pelvic and leg injuries.
Second patient self-extricated and was transported stable by road.
He had sustained major leg injuries.
Images surfacing from the scene appear to show the two vehicles having sustained severe damage.

7.15AM: One patient has been loaded in the RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue service following a head-on collision on Yeppoon Rd this morning.
A stable male patient with leg and chest injuries has been transported to Rockhampton Hospital via road.
It is believed the patient transported via the helicopter has a significant leg injury.
It is understood Yeppoon Rd remains closed at this stage and traffic are being diverted through Mulara Rd.
6.30AM: TRAFFIC is being diverted on Yeppoon Rd and the rescue helicopter has been tasked following a two-vehicle crash this morning.
The crash was reported about 6am on the intersection of McKays Rd and Yeppoon Rd at Bondoola.
Traffic is being diverted through Mulara Rd.
A Queensland Ambulance Service media spokesman said at least one person is entrapped.
The RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue service has been tasked.
