Community radio station to hold open day for listeners

HE'S travelled the country hauling sound equipment for some of the world's biggest bands.

Now Peter Coggan gets the chance to play their hits for listeners of local community radio station, 4NAG.

"I've done a few different things in my life - had trucks for a long time, taken artists around Australia like Rod Stewart, John Fogarty and The Police," Peter told the Capricorn Coast Mirror.

"I get two hours on Monday and Wednesday to do my show, it's good stress relief. I can just lock myself in the studio and turn the music up and hopefully people like it."

Peter, whose show is called According to Coggs, is one of several announcers on the station which airs across the Capricorn Coast.

"It's like a little family there, I suppose, and the announcers help out with events we hold too," the 64-year-old said.

The organisation is always looking for new members, volunteers and announcers and Peter encouraged anyone interested to visit their open day this weekend.

"It's great for anybody who wants to get involved in radio and play different types of music they like," he said.

"I like putting the music out there and encouraging people to give us a ring and tell us what they want to hear."
