ROCKHAMPTON police are urging parents to talk to their children about stranger danger and develop contingency plans after a child was approached near The Cathedral College on April 21.

Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Moon said parents should have conversations with their children in relation to appropriate safety plans.

"In everyday life we should be having those conversations with our children to ensure they know what is safe," he said.

"Have a code word for your children so only you and they know the code word for pick up so if somebody else was to attend to pick them up, they ask for the code word."

A Diocese of Rockhampton spokesman confirmed on behalf of TCC that a student was approached by a person outside the school grounds.

No such incident happened at Rockhampton Grammar School.
