Police looking for P plater who threw bottle at truck

A TRUCK driver has been given the fright of his life after a flying drink bottle smashed through his windscreen and into his face, sending him and his semi-trailer veering off the highway.

Police now need help to find the occupants of an early model white Toyota Landcruiser wagon with green P plates that was in the Yaamba region about 4.30pm yesterday.

They say the semi-trailer was travelling along the Bruce Highway about two kilometres south of Yaamba when the 4WD passed it on the other side of the highway.

As the 4WD passed, a plastic bottle full of liquid was thrown out of the driver's side of the 4WD and smashed into the windscreen of the semi-trailer.

The bottle hit the driver in the face and he lost control of the truck before he was able to bring it to a stop on the side of the highway.

The driver sustained minor cuts to his face from the shattered windscreen glass.
