Rockhampton Carols venue changed - you must get ticket now
FORECAST bad weather has forced a change of venue for Carols by Candlelight. The event will now be held at the Pilbeam Theatre on Saturday.
Organisers made the decision after consulting the Bureau of Meteorology and doing site inspections on the planned venue, Victoria Park.
Rockhampton Mayor Margaret Strelow said "even if is not raining on the night the ground will be soggy and not very pleasant."
"With heavy rain over the past few days and a high probability of severe electrical storms and more rain predicted for later this week, we felt our best option was to move the event," she said.
"We looked at the condition of Victoria Park and it's quite wet even now, let alone if it gets more rain. It's unlikely to be able to dry out to sufficient extent for us to use as the venue for Carols by Candlelight. "
The venue will now be the Pilbeam Theatre. Two concerts have been organised - at 5pm and 7.30pm.
Because there is limited seating, all concertgoers will need to have a ticket. Tickets are available in person from the Pilbeam Theatre Box Office, by phone on 4927 4111 and online with print at home at www.seeitlive.com.au.
Tickets are free but donations will be accepted at the concert for this year's Carols by Candlelight charity, Cancer Council Queensland.
"People will still be treated to a great show of music and Christmas cheer," she said.
Carols by Candlelight will now be held at the Pilbeam Theatre, on Saturday at 5pm and 7.30pm. Entry is by donation to this year's nominated charity, Cancer Council Queensland.
Carols by Candlelight is a Rockhampton Regional Council event, and supported by Masters Home Improvement, Southern Cross Ten, The Morning Bulletin, SEA FM and many other local businesses.
