Grammar School rowing trio offered trial for Queensland crew

THREE Rockhampton Grammar School rowers' impressive performances at the Queensland championships has them in line for a berth in the state team.

RGS rowers Lucy Blair, Imogen Storey and Georgia Saunders have been invited to trial for the Queensland schoolgirls coxed eight crew in Brisbane this weekend after shining at the championships at Bucca Weir, near Bundaberg, on the weekend.

The Year 12 trio combined with Briony Muller and cox Georgia Henderson to win gold in the women's under-19 coxed four final at the championships.

RGS student Robert Sinclair finished with two gold medals.

Sinclair won the men's under-17 double scull with year-11 student Max Napper.

Sinclair combined with Jack Kinsella, Austin Cocks, Matthew Wright and cox Luke Saunders to win the men's under-17 coxed quad final. Adding to his two gold medals, Sinclair returned home with a silver and a bronze medal, while Blair impressed with one gold and three silver medals.

Sinclair claimed his silver and bronze medals in the under-17 single scull and with Napper in the under-19 double scull.

Blair earned silver in the under-19 and under-21 single scull events and teamed up with Storey, Georgia Saunders and Briony Muller to claim silver in the women's under-19 fours.

Ellie Belonogoff and Tess Napper combined to win silver in the under-15 double scull while Ben Ramsey, Lawson Storey, Spencer Hansen, Rigardt Kruger and cox Luke Saunders finished second in the men's under-19 coxed fours.

RGS finished fifth overall on the medal tally with three gold, seven silver and two bronze medals.
