Seaspray Resort up for grabs and receivers keep doors open
LACK of interest and a downturn in the resources industry is what property agents say caused a Zilzie estate, which includes a resort, to go into receivership.
The Seaspray Resort apartments and a land development block, which are both on a 1.5ha piece of land, went into receivership in April this year.
The receivers, Ferrier and Hodgson, will keep the resort open and trading until new owners take over the property.
Property agents are welcoming any interest from developers and other interested buyers who want to snap up the estate in a receivers' sale.
Potential buyers must be aware that offers can be in no later than tomorrow afternoon.
Ray White Burleigh principal Brad Duncalfe said he had 30 inquiries to buy the resort and the vacant land next to the apartments.
He said the former owners, Lakewood Place Pty Ltd, had set out a well-planned estate.
However, he said the former owners simply weren't getting the sales they were hoping to get.
He wanted residents to be aware that because ownership of the building had in essence been dissolved, the resort was still open and operating.
Mr Duncalfe wanted to reassure the community that the recreation club, which included the pharmacy and the restaurant, was separate to the receivers' sale.
The resort is made up of 17 fully-furnished apartments and includes an office and a reception area.
Business operators near the resort said they were keen to get the locals interested in the facilities in the resort-restaurant precinct.
One business operator told the Capricorn Coast Mirror he believed locals in Zilzie simply didn't have the money to spend at the restaurant and the other facilities there.
