Some disruptions as council upgrades notorious intersection

THE Rockhampton Regional Council has commenced work on a $1 million project to improve traffic flow through the Dean Street and High Street intersection in Berserker.

Chair of Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Tony Williams said the project would also modify the Dean Street profile to suit future planned profiling for the area.

"The Dean Street profile resulting from this project will achieve one more section of the overall concept that has been developed for the full length of Dean Street," Cr Williams said.

"This project will replace the existing roundabout with traffic signals, provide concrete indented parking spaces and footpaths, and upgrade some existing stormwater drainage and road pavement.

"Whilst works are in progress we need the community's help to improve the safety and quality of works.

"All motorists should exercise caution, obey all signs and traffic controller directions, and drive to conditions.

"Council will endeavour to keep delays to a minimum however minor traffic delays may occur from time to time," he said.

Potential Interruptions:

  •  Temporary lane closures, and
  •  Occasional limited access to property and reduced speed zones.

On-site staff will be able to assist with alternative access arrangements on a day to day basis.

Subject to weather, works are due to reach completion by mid July 2014.

Residents can speak to an on-site staff member or contact Council's Customer Service Centre on 07 4932 9000 or 1300 22 55 77 should they have any questions.
