St Brendans College braves the shave for a cure
ST Brendan's College showed its continued commitment to its touchstone of Inclusive Community, holding its own 'Shave for a Cure' event to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
With 13 students and three staff participating, they raised a massive $9297 putting them as the top School/Education team in all of Wide Bay Capricornia.
This area covers Rocky, Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Biloela, Moura, out to the Gemfields, Wide Bay (Bundy, Maryborough/Hervey Bay), and the North Burnett. Sue Ellen Pitt who has been with the Foundation since September 2011 stated that this is the highest total she has seen for a school in her region in that time.
With the amount that St Brendan's College has raised the Leukaemia Foundation can supply 115 nights of accommodation (almost 4 months) to CQ patients and their families who have to undergo treatment in Brisbane.
Also the funds raised will help the foundation to increase their investment into research to find better treatments, investigate the causes of blood cancer and continue their search for a cure. Well done to the efforts of the students and staff of the College.
