Motorcyclist still critical in Brisbane hospital a week on

UPDATE FRIDAY AUGUST 7: MORE THAN a week on since the accident, a 63-year-old remains in a critical condition in Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital.

The 63-year-old was injured on Wednesday July 29, when his motorbike collided with a Holden Commodore nears The Oaks service station on Yeppoon Rd. 

UPDATE FRIDAY JULY 31, 2PM: THE 63-year-old remains in a critical condition at Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital.

He was flown to Brisbane on Thursday, following the serious crash on Wednesday.  

UPDATE, 3pm: The man who yesterday suffered the loss of the lower half of his leg in a major crash has arrived in Brisbane.

The 63-year-old was this morning airlifted to Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital to undergo further treatment.

A spokeswoman for the hospital today confirmed he remains in a critical but stable condition. 

Yesterday's collision occurred on Yeppoon Rd at Bondoola around 11am.

All lanes of traffic were closed until around 3.30pm as the Forensic Crash Unit investigated the scene. 

UPDATE THURSDAY JULY 30, 9.30am: THE 63-year-old man who was severely injured in the Yeppoon Rd crash is now being flown to Brisbane for further treatment.

He sustained the loss of the lower half of his right leg.

It is understood the man was riding his motorbike when a white Holden Commodore was turning into The Oaks service station and collided with the bike.

Queensland Police Service shut down the road for more than an hour yesterday for the Forensic Crash Unit to investigate.

The man is being taken to the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital.

He was in an induced coma last night. 

UPDATE, 4.20pm: The multi-vehicle crash which blocked Yeppoon Rd at Bondoola has since been cleared.

A motorist reported traffic remained affected at 3pm, however as of 4pm vehicles were now moving freely through the area.

The earlier collision between the motorbike vs car occurred around 11am.

A 63-year-old male rider was taken to Rockhampton Hospital after he suffered minor injuries and the loss of the lower half of his right leg.

He is reportedly in a serious but stable condition, while the other driver escaped uninjured.

Crash investigators remained at the scene for sometime over the course of the afternoon.

A spokesman for QAS said early reports suggest the collision occurred after the two vehicles attempted to enter the Oaks Service Station on Yeppoon Rd.

UPDATE, 12.15pm: A 63-year-old male has been taken to Rockhampton hospital in a serious but stable condition following a car vs motorcycle collision near Yeppoon this morning.

It is understood the motorcyclist lost the lower half of his right leg in the Yeppoon Rd crash at Bondoola.

The driver of the passenger vehicle has reportedly escaped unharmed.

Circumstances surrounding the crash for now remain unclear.

Emergency services remain on scene directing traffic.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and proceed with caution.

WEDNESDAY JULY 29, INITIAL, 11.20am: Emergency services are responding to reports of a horrific motorbike vs vehicle collision near at Bondoola.

The two vehicles are said to have collided near the Oaks Service Station on Yeppoon Rd just before 11am this morning.

Early reports suggest the rider was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained a significant leg injury.

It is understood the 63-year-old male's lower half of his right leg was amputated in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle is believed to be uninjured.

Both QPS and QAS have reportedly cordoned off the area.

Traffic is expected to be delayed for some time.
